Over the last 8 years we’ve noticed a few popular Brand name door manufacturers taking advantage of consumers. We’re tired of it! We are going to share with you Hydraulic Door Failures NOT told by any of them. We wont share photos from hurricane damage or make other wild claims. We will simply show proof of what these mfg’s find acceptable. The incompetence is unbelievable and we are shocked that no one in the industry has addressed any of these issues. Be very careful when deciding on a manufacturer for your Hydraulic Door.
The image above is of a guy who has a Hydraulic door that does not close properly. He has a chain binder rigged to keep the door closed!! The door creeps open letting out air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. It also creates another issue for the owner.. Rodents. The door owner spoke with the manufacturer of this door and was told “that’s just the way it is with this door type.” We at Premier Door Co. can assure you that this is FALSE.
What that picture above clearly shows is incompetence, poor engineering and lack of hydraulic knowledge. This is what happens throughout the industry, all these guys out on the market copy one another racing to make the cheapest door possible. Claiming to have door solutions and actually having them are two very different things.. The solution these manufacturers have given you is a metal bar that goes into the floor! The only time a metal bar (wind pin) should go in the floor is if the door engineering calls for it. Larger doors require this in high wind and hurricane zones.
Talk about inconvenience, if you forget about the floor pin and open the door the metal bar gets bent. Also this is what you get when you use cheap cylinders and door components from China! People can literally go to their local farm supply and find the same hydraulic pump assembly and cylinders these guys use! Now that’s pathetic. No wonder the cylinders bow. I bet the staff travel around to replace cylinders. NOT. When you stroke the rod to the full extent leaving nothing inside… This is bound to happen, but its much cheaper this way they say..
Nick says: It’s unfortunate that some manufactures have given hydraulic doors a bad rap. We hear about it all the time. Bulky hinge designs, bowed door frames, bowed cylinders, broken hinges, cheap hydraulics, never wrong attitudes, no responsibility for their product! For instance doors that creep open (don’t seal tight to the building) unexpectedly. This is due to total incompetence of hydraulic systems. If I was the self proclaimed “door leader” and provided my customers with this as the solution.. I would strip myself of the title immediately.
However their are ways to fix these problems and at Premier Door we have done just that. That is why we invested in cutting edge technology. Our Smart Door ® Technology offers the industry’s only one-touch operating system with soft door closure and motion lock to keep the door closed (Door stays closed with Premier.) And we won’t EVER give you a nonsense response of “that’s just the way it is.“ hacked” doors.
Hydraulic Door Failures- Wood instead of Metal Door Frame..
We had a really hard time understanding why anyone in their right mind would use wood in place of steel for Hydraulic Door Framework..!? Not only is this incompetent, but this manufacturer cheapens the door frame work to the point where you wonder how it passed engineering.. You can watch a door be installed in under and hour or two. Yes thats right an hour or two. This is inexcusable and reckless.
At Premier Door Company were committed to educating consumers about Hydraulic doors because we take pride in manufacturing hydraulic doors that operate to their full potential. The manufacturers in this article are advertising everywhere today and don’t have any problem with advertising “best door on the market” ‘best price” “premiere supplier” Clearly bait and switch is common practice. Don’t let Manufacturers with numerous door failures take advantage of you.
