Premier Door Co. Zero Hinge Collection Design, install meet homeowners’ high expectations

Stewart, Minn, July 1, 2025 — There is a reason they are called high-end homes. Homeowners seeking durability, sustainability as well as a desired aesthetic get what they want, including top-quality garage doors that meet all expectations, no matter how high.

 

Premier Door Company designed and installed three custom zero hinge bifold doors for a private residence in Boca Raton, Fla. The homeowner purchased adjacent lots, took down a pair of two-story, 12,000-square-foot homes to erect his own single-story, 12,000-square-foot home with a 12-car garage.

 

“The overall design for this residence was the creation of a dynamic outside-in spaces, filled with art and light,” says Alejandro Miranda, Studio Director at Choeff Levy Fischman Architecture & Design in Miami. “It features an exciting movement of forms and materials with panoramic views of the ponds, pools, the surrounding landscape and the sky. The home features curated art pieces displayed and visible from both inside and outside the home.

Sylvain Poirier, Senior Project Manager at VJD Construction of Palm City, Fla., oversaw the construction and says the 30-year-old community is experiencing an evolution. Older homes are being replaced with new modern-style homes.

“This home is solid concrete construction, including the roof” Poirier says. “It’s a bunker. It’s very energy efficient; it’s a very modern look which is all the rage here now.”

 

The rear exterior of the garage is a cascading waterfall, just to the right of the main entrance of the home. The calming sound of the waterfall leads visitors to a reflecting pond that surrounds the entry.

At the garage entrance, Premier Door Company installed three bifold doors. Each bifold door is 22 feet wide and 11 feet tall with 12 glass panels to showcase the collection of cars, some displayed on lifts.

 

“The doors look great,” Poirier says. “They’re more attractive than some of the industrial-looking bifold doors on the market. Premier doors look good and they’re quieter. I will always steer customers toward Premier doors.”

Premier Door Company is no stranger to unique residential projects.

 

“We enjoy these projects,” says Nick Schuft, Project Manager of Premier Door. “In this case, the homeowners are spending a lot of money and have high expectations. The challenge here was to give them the doors they wanted, doors that work perfectly and meet their aesthetic demands. The 12 glass panels are very heavy, so we did the calculations with our engineer to get these doors to look and function the way everyone wants. Part of that functionality is within our proprietary automated operating system Smart Door Technology. This gives the user full control of the door from a convenient touch screen interface.”

 

Schuft headed up the four-day installation of Premier’s Zero Hinge doors on this home. Each door has two spindles about four inches from the top on the side. There are no top hinges, so each door pivots on the spindles during operation. The precision fabrication at the top of the door keeps everything watertight.

“Of course, the doors meet UL 325 for safety with contact and non-contact (photo-electric) sensors,” Schuft says. “Like everything else with this home, these doors are state-of-the-art.”
